Bingham Model Railway Club (near Nottingham) is a long-
We welcome members at every level; beginners, improvers or professional model-
Our clubroom is available 24/7 and is used for layout construction, testing and plain socializing. It was officially opened on 16th July 2009 by Tony Wright, Editor of British Railway Modelling Magazine. Unfortunately our award winning layout, Copse Crossing, along with two Projects which were in construction, were all destroyed in a fire at our previous Clubrooms on 1st November 2008.
We have members interested in all gauges although the club tends to Concentrate on the more familiar gauges of 00 and N. We are currently working on several new layouts with members heavily involved in the construction of the layout, scenic items, electrics, and anything else we can find people to do.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the main club nights and members often bring their own bits and pieces to work on during the evening. Some get involved with the new club layouts, and others come for a cup of tea and a chat. There is a good atmosphere and a great sense of togetherness within the club since the fire.
Everybody has really rallied round and it’s remarkable to see what has been achieved. We have also received very generous donations from local Councils and groups since November 2008.
New members are always welcome at the clubroom and if you are a complete novice to either railways or modelling, there will always be someone who can help you out. This is one of the main advantages of joining as a member.
During the course of a year, we organise several social events for our members. A summer barbeque is usually held along with a trip to a local drinking hole at Christmas time.
In 2010 Bingham MRC celebrated their 25th Anniversary and so why not come and join this long established club.
