Heston Sands
Following the success of Copse Crossing the Club agreed upon a new challenge. It was therefore agreed to build a new finescale layout (4mm/ft 16.5mm gauge) loosely based on the West Coast Main Line near Morecambe, before electrification. Heston Sands as it was named, would have been an alternative to the ‘public view’ section of Copse Crossing, but made use of the same storage sidings. This would have allowed the club, by August 2009, to have offered two finescale OO layouts to exhibition managers.
Whereas the layout was based on the West Coast main line near Morecambe and Hest Bank, we did not claim to provide an exact facsimile. We had hoped, however, that our efforts would have provided the look and feel of the location.
Heston Sands was never finished due to the clubroom fire in November 2008.
