Copse Crossing

This was the Club’s multi-award winning exhibition standard layout in finescale OO. Copse Crossing was not based on any particular location although the back scenes painted by one of the design team were inspired by the Vale of Belvoir, adjacent to Bingham. The layout was designed to show sequences of trains covering any era from the 1920’s to the present day, all locomotives and rolling stock being provided by club members . A complete sequence could last up to 45 minutes without repeating a previous movement. Dimensionally it was 30ft X 13ft and required 9 operators.

This layout was built to allow viewers to return to their train spotting days.

The viewing section was 20ft, although exhibition managers had to allow 30 ft X 13 ft to accommodate the storage sidings.

The layout had been exhibited all over the UK and had won several awards. It was sadly destroyed during the clubroom fire in November 2008.
