Brendam Docks

In 2010, the club constructed a small shunting layout based on the children’s television series Thomas The Tank Engine. Brendam Docks is featured in the series and that is where the layout is based.

The idea behind it is to let children get involved with the hobby by letting them take control of their favourite characters at local exhibitions and events. There are a selection on troublesome trucks for them to shunt around the layout as well as points which they can change to decide where to sent their loco.

There is also a small quiz for children to take part in at exhibitions. This takes the form of a treasure hunt where they have to guess where Thomas is hiding on Sodor Island. If they guess correctly, they win a Thomas & Friends related prize.

The layout itself features an engine shed, sidings and cranes at the docklands end. There is also a goods shed and plenty of sidings for children to move the trucks to and from.

The aim is to have the layout scenically complete by the end of 2010.
